At Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Electro Mechanical Technician to join our team and play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the reliability of our electrical systems. If you enjoy hands-on work, solving complex problems, and working with high-voltage equipment, this is a role where your expertise truly matters.
What You’ll Do
Testing, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform calibration, testing, and repair of solid-state and microprocessor-based relays
Inspect and verify operation of circuit switchers, motor-operated air switches, and related equipment
Conduct electrical testing and maintenance on 15kV–27kV reclosers and breakers
Test and maintain 69kV–345kV generator circuit breakers (GCBs)
Inspect and repair transformer tap changer controls, regulators, and mobile substations
Analyze electrical drawings and schematics to diagnose issues
Troubleshoot system and relay problems to prevent recurrence
Installation & Commissioning
Install and validate relay protection schemes
Implement and verify settings changes from engineering teams
Install and maintain associated equipment such as recorders and transducers
Substation Construction & Upgrades
Support installation of control house equipment
Run conduit and terminate control wiring in substations
Record Keeping & Compliance
Maintain accurate records of testing and equipment documentation
Ensure compliance with standards and reporting requirements

What You Bring
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 3+ years of electrical or substation mechanical experience

Organized in 1941, Brazos Electric was the first cooperative formed in the Lone Star state for the purpose of generating and supplying electrical power. Today, Brazos Electric provides wholesale power delivery services for its 16 member-owner distribution cooperatives.
