Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS).
Under the direction of Principal Investigator, the Post-Doctoral Associate will study how gut microbiota-derived metabolites regulate immune responses in type 1 diabetes (T1D) and other autoimmune conditions. Our research focuses on identifying specific microbial metabolites that are altered before disease onset and defining the molecular mechanisms by which these metabolites control T cell activation, cytokine production, and target tissue destruction. Using mouse models, primary human immune cells, and patient samples, we aim to uncover microbiota-based strategies for preventing or treating autoimmunity.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Performs independent research involving primary T cell culture, flow cytometry, in vivo mouse models, and molecular immunology techniques under the PI's guidance.
- Meets with the principal investigator to establish goals and objectives for autoimmunity-related projects.
- Communicates regularly with the P.I. regarding experimental progress and project direction.
- Maintains detailed and accurate experimental records, including electronic lab notebooks.
- Supervises and trains lower level staff (technicians, students) in laboratory techniques, animal colony maintenance, and IACUC compliance.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- PhD in Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
