Job DescriptionMinneapolis College is seeking a full-time, unlimited Library Technician. Responsibilities include but not limited to:provide circulation supervision functions.perform assigned technical and access services.train and oversee work study students.assist librarians in maintenance of library collections.maintain and develop access and technical services procedures.recommend new policies as warranted.Salary Range:Library Technician: $21.36 ? $29.36 hourly / $44,600 ? $61,972 annually.Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of library classification system(s) and standard library reference tools sufficient to assist clients in locating materials and conducting research.Ability to apply and support detailed coding or cataloging systems sufficient to create tracking for new print and non-print library acquisitions and locate and replace existing materials.Experience in operating personal computers, use various software and web-based applications, and other office equipment sufficient to locate catalog information, word-process documents, complete forms and prepare reports.Communicate effectively orally and in writing sufficient to determine and respond to the informational needs of clients of varied educational levels and backgrounds; to train, direct and evaluate work of student clerical staff; and to assist the professional library staff to maintain the library collection according to library policy and procedures.Demonstrate an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.Preferred QualificationsFull or partial completion a Library Information Technology AA or AAS degree or Public Information Technical Information certificatesExperience working in a Library or Information Agency for at least 1 yearFamiliarity with ALEPH and OCLCDemonstrated experience working with and providing customer service to diverse populationsPhysical RequirementsStanding for extended periods of time.Frequent and repetitive bending, lifting, and maneuvering items.Moving and transporting items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds regularly.Other RequirementCurrent and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College for consideration. Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) is a public two-year college located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.
