Summary:
Perform electrical and mechanical tasks to operate, install, test, and maintain single and three-phase meters and related equipment on the Great River Energy (GRE) transmission system in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform and/or assist in the maintenance of all revenue metering and associated equipment such as instrument transformers in distributions substations, power substations, and generation plants owned by GRE or equipment GRE has the responsibility to maintain.
Install, test, and set-up new revenue metering and related equipment, including instrument transformers at distributions substations, power substations, and generation plants owned or maintained by GRE.
Operate power tools, multimeters, voltmeters, ammeters, test sets, and related tools.
Perform field and shop tests on all types of meter installations.
Perform and/or assist in the maintenance, installation, testing, and checkout of substation apparatus equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, voltage regulators, reclosers, mobile substations, load tap changers, station batteries and chargers, capacitor banks, circuit switchers, motor operators, and associated equipment.
Develop and update maintenance procedures along with maintaining equipment records in area of responsibility.
Qualifications: Knowledge typically acquired through a two-year technical degree/diploma in electrical or electronics related courses. A minimum of three years’ metering or distribution substation experience is preferred.
Knowledge of AC and DC circuits including Ohm’s law.
Knowledge of power, current and voltage transformers.
Knowledge of high voltage electrical equipment.
Knowledge of AC power measurement, familiarity with inductance, capacitance, power factor, and vector analysis.
Knowledge of the Delta & Wye voltages as it relates to meter configurations.
Skilled at effective communication that includes good interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication.
Skill and ability to use personal computers and related software including test equipment software, asset management software, Windows-based programs, and email.
Skill and ability to read circuit diagrams, prints, and drawings.
Ability to perform metering calculations/mathematics.
Ability to use meter data collection and management systems and develop meter programs.
Ability to distinguish colors on wires, control panels, and equipment.
Ability to perform switching operations on GRE equipment within the transmission system as required.
Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license to perform the essential job functions.
Ability to maintain a current medical card to perform the essential job functions.
Ability to live within 60 mile living radius of reporting location.
