The Supervisor of Telecommunications will be responsible for providing supervision and oversight to the Telecommunications Division of the Broadband Communications Department. This position will work with management to develop short- and long-term goals to meet future growth, and will have the knowledge and technical skills to effectively manage and support these areas.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Communications or related discipline and a minimum of 4 years of job related experience, or an associates’ degree in Electronic Communications or related discipline and 6 years of job related experience.

EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working with the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of telecommunications, telemetry and networking equipment. Experience working with SCADA communications in a utility environment is preferred. A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a supervisory role is preferred.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Advanced knowledge and background in wireless communications, fiber optic systems and computer networking is desired. Must have sound knowledge of the proper and safe use of the tools and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of communications equipment. Additional experience in a supervisory position and tower climbing experience is preferred. Must be willing to attend continuing education courses as required.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS: Must be skilled in human relations to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the job. Must possess good oral and written communications skills to be able to effectively communicate with others. Must have a strong understanding and be able to convey electrical theory and computer skills. Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must have advanced troubleshooting skills. Prefer applicant to obtain and maintain a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per Nevada State of Department of Transportation Regulations.
