The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Production, the CVN Production Specialist contributes to the successful live production of video and audio lectures for the Columbia Video Network (CVN), the distance education wing of Columbia Engineering; maintains and upkeeps electronic equipment and cabling of CVN studios and classrooms to guarantee optimum quality of recordings; provides training to faculty and TAs on using electronic resources for distance education; coordinates with faculty members and administrative staff on studio assignment and classroom schedule; supports the maintenance of all A/V equipment, hardware and software for the CVN classrooms, studios and administrative offices; works with CVN technicians and work-study student camera operators to ensure successful capture of classroom proceedings.
Responsibilities
(50%) Supervises the production of live class lectures offered by SEAS.
(10%) Troubleshoots hardware & software configurations of production and administrative office equipment; maintains course archives and ensures proper backups from various servers.
(10%) Maintains and upkeeps electronic equipment and wiring of CVN studios and classrooms to guarantee optimum quality of recordings.
(10%) Troubleshoots hardware & software configurations of production and administrative office equipment; maintains course archives and ensures proper backups from various servers.
(10%) Provides training to faculty and staff on the use of classroom and studio equipment.
(5%) Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent and a minimum of 0-2 years related experience required.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required. Must be proficient with audio-visual equipment and various recording setups, encoding software, live streaming and streaming services and platforms, computers, and technical equipment.
Knowledge of encoding hardware and software for online video production is highly desirable.
Willingness to work extended schedule and travel as needed required.
Prior exposure to a university environment is preferred. Knowledge of distance learning programs is preferred.
