Job Description:
Diagnose, repair and perform preventative maintenance on cooking equipment, walk in coolers/freezers and ice makers. Includes condensers, evaporators, line sets, thermostats, refrigerant controls, gas valves, piping, hoses and steam systems. Read wiring diagrams, follow safety circuits and line voltage. Perform basic plumbing on water supply and drain lines. Technicians use their knowledge and expertise to identify and resolve problems with equipment. They may test different components, inspect electrical connections, and use diagnostic tools to pinpoint issues. Respond to emergency calls.
Diagnose, repair and perform preventative maintenance on cooking equipment, walk in coolers/ freezers, ice makers, and campus wide water fountains. This may include cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed.
Identifies and obtains parts required to complete assigned projects. Inspects job area to comply with food safety standards. Operates standard equipment including power and hand tools. Receives and completes work orders. Maintains records of parts and labor hours expended on each piece of equipment. Performing acetylene welding, brazing and fabrication. Drives a vehicle to and from work sites, cleans work site upon work completion.

Technicians interact with customers, such as kitchen staff, to understand their equipment needs and address any concerns or questions they may have.

Required:
Working knowledge of the common tools required in the air conditioning and heating trade.
Accurate in all phases of work performed.
Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in the methods and techniques of the trade(s) where assigned; of the OSHA regulations related to the trade(s) area.
Thorough knowledge of and skill in the practical application of electronics, hydraulics, and mechanics as used in maintenance work; of basic mathematics including area, volume, weights and the practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions; of the care and storage of equipment and supplies used in the area where assigned.
General knowledge of the principles of supervision in the maintenance trades.
Skill in the use and maintenance of the tools and equipment of the trade(s) where assigned.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, drawings, and specifications; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to prepare summaries and reports.
Ability to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery; to work from ladders and scaffolding; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools, and supplies and/or exert force up to 70 lbs.; to concurrently manipulate multiple controls on machinery and equipment; to work in hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces, and adverse weather or temperature conditions; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
